Honduras in the summer is hot! Despite the heat, the glaring sun and the hard work that had to be done, this Make A Difference team of students and professionals turned the crumbling walls of an abandoned building site into a bright new community center for the people of Santa Ines. For two weeks people leveled and shoveled dirt, mixed and poured concrete, measured and screwed tin roofing. One group working below another working above, a floor was laid, a roof was built and the walls were stuccoed and painted. The farewell party on the last night proved that the community center was a success. The oldest to the youngest inhabitants of Santa Ines came to celebrate their new gathering place. It was a project they had started 5 years before but were unable to finish and now with the Make A Difference team working with them they reached their goal. The community center will be used for town meetings, health clinics and as a kindergarten.
