Gulf Coast - Hurricane Katrina
We have all seen that the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina will take a long time to heal. Make A Difference has been committed to helping in all ways possible. Traditionally Make A Difference has been a relief organization committed to reconstruction but the scale of the Katrina destruction has made us expand our building roles. Immediately after the storm hit, medical assistance was paramount. We organized a medical relief team to go to the region days later. Our small team of doctors and nurses provided medicine and specialized care to over 300 patients during our 5 days. Now, after the initial medical need has been met Make A Difference has led five more reconstruction relief trips to the area. Teams have gutted and salvaged the few remains from peoples homes, re-roofed, sided, and painted over 25 different properties. Most importantly we have listened to the storm victims stories and promised that we will continue to support them.
